Utility Surveys & Utility Mapping

Underground Utility Mapping

Underground Utility Mapping is a term used for the detection and location of underground utilities. Various technologies and techniques are employed to the task in what is increasingly becoming more complex due to both the the nature and volume of underground services. Each Job presents its own challenges which the survey team have to analyse and then select the appropriate tools and methods necessary to execute the brief. Typical instruments used include Electro-magnetic, Radio and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) all offering non intrusive forms of utility detection. Ideally the survey team will also be pre-armed with the results of a desktop utility record search indicating the nature and volume of services likely to be encountered.

Benefits

electro-magnetic detection combined with Ground Penetrating Radar for Utility Surveysdetect metallic pipework
  • Ability to detect metallic pipework, electric cables, telecoms and drainage routes
  • Non-invasive
  • Electro-magnetic detection can be enhanced to great effect when combining Ground Penetrating Radar in the survey, thus providing the most complete and thorough of survey of underground services and infrastructure available.
