Ground Penetrating Radar » Typical Example
GPR Typical example
GPR can also be applied to wider fields of ground investigations. GPR offers unique advantages over other utility detection systems in that the operator can study a 2D image of the ground. Whilst these images requires a degree of interpretation by a skilled operator it can deliver information about subsurface features. These underground objects can be of a diverse nature but include ground conditions, obstructions such as old building foundations, underground fuel tanks etc. that may have an impact on future planning of the site.

Subsequent historical research into the site showed that an old railway terminus had been situated at the site, which also enhanced the interpretation of the numerous radar anomalies found within the location. This highlights the benefit of a sub surface mapping survey to highlight any features which could have an impact on development costs and can be incorporated at the pre planning/design stage prior to the commencement of site works.
